Code of Conduct


Our school follows the Simcoe County District School Board’s (SCDSB) code of conduct, which outlines expected standards of behaviour and student discipline procedures. It applies to every member of the school community, and outlines the roles and responsibilities for each group.

All members of the school community, including students, staff, parent/guardians, volunteers and visitors have the right to be safe and feel safe in their school. With this right comes the responsibility to contribute to the provision of a safe, positive and violence-free learning environment.

This Code of Conduct sets clear standards and specifies consequences for student actions that do not comply with these standards. These standards apply on school property, on school buses, at all school related activities and in situations outside of school that have an impact on school climate - like online activities.

Cell Phone Policy​ 

Students are encouraged to bring electronic devices to school as necessary to use when completing classroom assignments that require the use of technology (i.e. internet research, word processing, links to subject being taught, etc.). Each classroom teacher will instruct students as to when they can use the devices during their teaching time and when the devices are not needed and should be put away. 

Students have been reminded that at breaks there are to be NO devices out/in use at any time, as there is no academic need for them. This rule is in place to encourage students to actively socialize with one another in the lunchrooms and outside on the playground. Sports and involvement in clubs, intramurals, etc. continue to be encouraged during break times. Students who require extra time to complete project work are reminded that the Respect and Responsibility Room is available at second breaks on days 1, 3 and 5.

For students who are using their devices without teacher permission, the following steps are in place: 

First offense - teacher keeps the device until the end of the school day,

Second offence - the device is stored at the office and student picks it up at the end of the day,

Third offence - the device is kept at the office, parent phoned, parent and administration will decide when phone will be returned,

Fourth offence - parent/guardian, student, administration meeting to discuss.

Proper electronic use is welcomed and occurs daily in our classrooms.  We understand the importance of technology usage in our global learning environment. During breaks without direct supervision of electronic devices, students must have teacher permission to use their devices if they need to communicate with parents, etc.  Students continue to be welcome to use the office phone if they need to contact family members.  ​
