Closures and cancellations due to COVID-19 and cancellations due to COVID-19<div>On March 31, 2020, the Premier’s Office announced an extension to the provincial school closure period in response to COVID-19. As such, Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools, child care centres and adult learning centres will not reopen on April 6, 2020, as originally scheduled. The Premier’s Office has stated that all publicly funded schools in Ontario will remain closed until May 4, 2020, at which time they will reassess school openings. <br></div><div><br></div><div>The following programs/meetings will not run or are closed:<br></div><div><ul><li>Permits (Community Use of Schools)</li><li>All EarlyON and Child Care Centres</li><li>Adult and continuing education</li><li>Dual Credit and Cooperative education programs</li><li>Accessibility Advisory Committee (March 30, 2020)</li><li>First Nations Education Advisory Committee (April 2, 2020)</li><li>Special Education Advisory Committee (April 6, 2020)</li><li>Program Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)</li><li>Human Resources Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)</li><li>Business and Facilities Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)</li><li>Business and Facilities Standing Committee and SEAC Budget Meeting (April 15, 2020)<br></li><li><div>Parent Involvement Committee (April 21, 2020)<br></div></li></ul></div><div>In addition, the Education Centre and the Career Centre are closed to the public.</div><div><br></div><div>Learn more at <a href=""></a><br></div><p><br></p>

With snow comes the possiblity of bus cancellations, and we would like to remind you of the SCDSB policy on <span id="dlgTitleBtns" class="ms-dlgTitleBtns"><a id="DlgClose7f5e77ef-9afc-48fc-acb4-7c062eac4c52" class="ms-dlgCloseBtn" title="Close dialog" accesskey="C"><span style="padding:8px;height:16px;width:16px;display:inline-block;"><span class="s4-clust" style="height:16px;width:16px;position:relative;display:inline-block;overflow:hidden;"></span></span></a></span>Inclement Weather days:  </p><p>On <span data-markjs="true">inclement</span> <span data-markjs="true">weather</span> days when buses are cancelled, the SCDSB automated attendance system will call the home and cell number of the first parent on file for<span class="ms-rteThemeBackColor-6-1"> ALL students who are not at school</span> , <span class="ms-rteThemeBackColor-6-1">including both bus students and those who walk to school.</span><span class="ms-rteThemeBackColor-6-1"> Please call us back only if your child should be at school. If we don’t hear from you, we will assume you are aware your child is absent.</span></p><p><span class="ms-rteThemeBackColor-1-0">Parents CANNOT opt out of this safe arrival program. Winter Walk Day in Collingwood - Wednesday February 12, 2020 Walk Day in Collingwood - Wednesday February 12, 2020<p>​</p><p style="text-align:center;">Winter Walk Day in Collingwood - Wednesday February 12, 2020</p><img src="file:///C:/Users/MFMACD~1/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image002.png" alt="" style="width:403px;margin:5px;" /><p>On Wednesday February 12, 2020, we are excited to be participating in <em>#WinterWalkDay</em>! </p><p>Walking to school in winter has many potential benefits, including benefits for your child's health and well-being (like opportunities to learn and socialize on the way to school, and arriving at school alert and ready to learn), our community (reduced traffic congestion around the school) and the environment, too. </p><p>Keep active this winter and join schools across Canada to celebrate Winter Walk Day. </p><ul><li>If you can walk safely to school, wrap up warm, leave the car at home and travel to school on foot with your friends</li><li>If you live too far to walk with whole way, try "walk a block" - get dropped off at a friend's house or a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way</li><li>If you take the school bus, walk to your bus stop or have a winter walk in the school yard at recess time</li></ul><img src="file:///C:/Users/MFMACD~1/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image004.png" alt="" style="width:285px;margin:5px;" /><p>Walk with your child - Grab your mittens, hats and boots and join the movement!
